Hello Watchers!

Well, my 15 minutes of fame is up for yesterday, but I want to thank everyone very much for watching me, it's truly a big honor (although kind of a big pressure too... before yesterday I had around 500 views and 9 watchers!) Unfortunately, I cannot thank each and every one of you personally, so this journal entry will have to do... if anyone reads it.

A little bit about me...

My name is Dan, I'm 22 and an electrical engineer by profession. I am currently in grad school in California.

How I draw:

The first 3 works in my gallery (Giza Plains, Anna, and Nocturne in Red) were done with a mouse, but (fortunately) my new tool of the trade is a Wacom tablet. I use photoshop CS. I have one full-time critic (who is kind of an ass) named Tim who critiques my work before I publish to make sure nothing blatantly wrong occurs. He is very harsh and often gives me an anger rash (figuratively).

A lot of you have asked about whether Harbor was inspired by some anime or game or another. To answer this, my aspiration is to be as good as the concept artists of Square Enix (prolly will never happen), and my favorite works are Final Fantasy XII concept arts (do some googling, they are mind blowing). I originally wanted to paint a dark chasm with mushroom-like buildings, but after drawing 10 drafts of buildings or so and hating them, I ended up with a kind of Japanese style (I'm a big fan of spirited away too). One thing led to another and Harbor came to being. I usually have a rough idea of what I want to draw, but as for the final product, it normally ends up looking nothing like my first drafts (except for Giza Plains, the outline is exactly what you get in the end )
